Antonin De Bemels - IL S'AGIT (2003)Belgica
"In this videographical proposition De Bemels continues his exploration of the physical and the visual limitations of movement, dance and the human body. Central focus is on a static composite torso; it seems to blend in with the rhythmically invigorating limbs of dancer Ugo Dehaes, eyes closed, his head twisting like that of a puppet. Il s'agit offers an illusory and complex metaphor, relating the human body to machine-like patterns and shapes. In a cybernetic ‘ballet mécanique’ of fluttering, wriggling arm gestures the organism seems to develop and multiply itself, and then reassemble for a short but peaceful moment." (Stoffel Debuysere, Argos)
Denis Miller 8 min usa Vis a Vis
Vis a Vis (2002) is a mixed-media artwork that combines synthetic music and images. The two media share a number of governing principles, both technical and formal. For example, the technique of convolution, in which two sounds or images are “blended” in imaginative ways, is used throughout the piece. In addition, formal continuity is achieved through the varied repetition of elements of both media that are introduced at the opening.
Julio Soto - zero Gravity 2003 5:20 Spain
Is a vídeo of computer generated fluids that feel real yeat disturbingly unnatural, simmilarly to a synthetic aquarium in zero gravity conditions. These fluids seem to respond to natural laws such as gravity, friction, Newtonian fiels, collisions, etc, while incidentally taking a life on their own.
The imagey loosely evokes human organs pulsating to the beat of the hypnotic- repetitive sound track in a kind of literally visceral.

Paul Rawley David Philips -Security Fugue. 2003. Two channel color video with sound. 4:00 loop.
Contrasting the promise of rescue with threats of captivity and injury, “Security Fugue” examines personal responses to crisis in the current arena of ubiquitous security. Images of a rescue helicopter move across the screen in exaggerated slow motion, while on a second screen, the camera tracks over aerial views of a hospital and rescue crew on the ground below. In the audio track, stuttering confessions and dislocated murmurs echo in unison with the constant rhythm of chopping helicopter blades which fills the space.
Sources for the piece are varied; a small excerpt of a 35mm Hollywood trailer from the early 1970's, a 16mm educational film about psychological responses to disasters, taped recordings of phone calls made by Patty Hearst from captivity in 1974, interviews with Hearst from 2003 describing her revisited experiences of captivity, and original sound compositions by the artists.

Many will recall the grandiose prophesies of the early 1980s about the "telematic city" and from then the recurrent rumors, fed by numerous conventions, articles, interviews and so forth regarding the "cabled city" the "telematic city" and related issues. And if you add to that the concept of the computerized home, home-based jobs from which, in combination, said the prophets, would have emerged an abstract city suffused by the glow and hum of personal computers, but devoid of energy, in which the only problem would have been the alienation of citizens separated one from the other by the cold video grids and plasma screens.
It is a known fact that today telematics have radically changed many aspects of our lives, especially in regard to computers and the web as exceptional instruments of communication, having altered our sense of time and place in communication, giving way to a newer set of tools as well as new frontiers to explore. The new media and telematics offer the individual new possibilities which integrate traditional methods of mass communication with any standard characteristics of classic interaction. Regarding multimedia, hypertext and especially interactivity associated with these new tools, the topic relating to interaction of man to machine takes on a significant role, necessarily associated with the larger idea of virtual communication, but also to raise the level of relationships and social ties more resistant to the homologous imprint of mass culture.
Yet these new technologies can ameliorate the sense of depersonalization because they are deconstructing our ideas of social behaviors.

20 -Kentaro taki exchangeable cities 5 minutes japan
The globalization and huge infrastructure in order to equalize the world. Those present us information and urban space which have same quality and are homogenized. To represent the fake city which are assembled with many elements of the world. The spectacularization of the city has same meaning to overflow of images.
Kentaro Taki elegantly simulates our situation which is surrounded by mass media information, picking up images of TV and exhibiting some of them in the same time. In ”Media Cage,”he imposes Indonesian TV programs on a images of tropical tourism so as to show you can never escape from the mass media globalisation, then suggests one possible way to criticize the media from inside its cage. In ”Unstable People” he exposes some figures of TV in a few frames repeatedly, then reveals that those have no meaning by themselves, but only the media arbitrariness can impose the meanings.
