Faktura is a work that explores a variety of virtual environments, focusing on the infinite variety of forms and textures one might find. Morphing, evolving abstract objects appear against a backdrop of evocative music that sets the tone and affect of each scene. The Russian term faktura has a variety of meanings, including one published in the 1923 Constructivist manifesto: manner of construction.

Cacophony weaves historic events in the fields of art and the politics. It nears different situations and it presents them visually from the point-of-view of the media, the spectacle, dissolving their contents in a crescent aesthetic & flashy surface. The audio perverts this system installing an ironic, cynic or even pathetic order. The work superimposes images and sounds from different contexts in terms of time and space. Formally it is like a mixture of radio and TV. Parts of the sound track of Glauber Rocha¹s film "Cancer" describing a 1968 Rio de Janeiro the student riots against the ditactorship, the intellectuals¹ gathering at the Museum of Modern Art and the people in the countryside dying as usual. The video shows scenes from the opening ceremony of the XXV International Biennial of São Paulo, 2002.

Video extracted from the internet that, recombined and renamed, they re-signify the discourses of those videos. The possibilities of those combinations are great. The neologism “Mastuba-Cão = Masturba dog, Masturbação = Masturbation”, but it opens to interpretations on that re-signification: The child and the dog as part of the western cultural do hedonism.
