On this screening we will be exhibitting vídeos from the following countries: Brazil, USA, France, Israel, Japan, Romania, Argentina, Switzerland, UK and Canada.
We observer 5 main aspects on the videos presented and we decided to comment on the videos from this perspective.
One of these aspects is the search of representing the landscape, that is a recurrent theme and very significant in a direct relation to painting and photography. Thanks to the search of the contemplation of the image, we see the work of Nelton Pellenz, that opens with a slow shot, that exhibits a landscape, it discusses the own way to work with the video as a medium, the mechanics of the image, and it is related to the language of photography.
The video mini certeza I of Dirnei Prates also recurs to the landscape, it works as an abstraction of those images with a simple image of a person taking a bath in a river.
On the video of Joacelio Batista ¨se me queimo no fogo do desejo, porque meus olhos ardem na água¨. There is a technical challenge, inserting the animation and also questions regarding the landscape and form of narrative.
Andrés Senra also works with a artificially constructed landscape, generating poetry and morbid feelings, it re-makes the myth of Narciso as a parody
Overdrive from Gerben Kruk, also reveals the use of the landscape and it explores the mechanics of the video and the medium simultaneously.
Fernando Alexim exhibits urban situations, showing abandoned toys and parks, ludic aspects of a city and of the quotidian, scenes that are not really perceived by the passing person that are normally engaged with his own thoughts.
At last regarding the landscape, we have Antonella Kurzen, in a unique video, that suggests an universe of dream an tenderness, the search for a state of pure beauty.
The second aspect for us examined, is the self portrait. We have the video of Fernando de La Rocque, that uses his face as a charge, generating a mystical perspective to his personality as a guru that supposedly reaches the irony as illumination.
On the of Alex Hetherington, we see a singer, a clown and a camera, producing noise and meaning, both of them reflecting de - characterized image of the artist, and the camera which observes the spectators.
Keren Golan portraits her face eating her own tongue, bringing up an image of self sacrifice and mutilation, violent and morbid.
Regarding do animation, Thorsten shows images of rays, the throbbing rhythm of the energy, that display to us direct relations with chemistry an physics.
Marcos Paulo Rolla makes an animation that talks about consumerism, and presents a magazine being handled with all the fetish produced by the advertisements.
Mihai Grecu in his work, creates a narrative, with a surprising poetics, with a mystic aura, that is directly related to 3d and computer graphics, producing anguish fiction.
Carlo Sansolo works with 3d animation and bi-dimensional as a strange ambient, and its narrative of the linearity of the text and the images.
Augustine Gimel on his video Ballet Mecânique works editing in such a speed that it becomes an animation.
The video Suicide loop, Sabine Gruffat brings up a artificial ocean made with a 3D program, where the animation is linked with the music from Alan´s Vega band Suicide, and it is a connection among the idea of the natural (sea/ocean) versus the artificial (3d program).
Leonardo Galvão in masturbadog, creates an ambient where the videos dowloaded in to his pc are juxtaposed, creating a fragmented sequence of images, that suggest a narrative, and it questions the medium itself, capturing images and re making them.
In a poetic perspective working with text and image, we see videomonkey from Akiko Nakamura that brings up the urban landscape and its displacement in time, and this video still evokes a narrative, and it was actually made with many micro videos, produced in diverse occasions, edited in different versions.
Marcello Mercado makes his video about the a bestiality and insects, other forms of predatory life, that are non perceived to us, he constructs a poetic around this parallel world, that we tend to ignore.
In Sejamos todos bonzinhos Érika Fraenkel, creates a text that describes the metaphors of the object, playing the universe of the images.
