Release ed. Galaxi, laisle.com loop art.
On this exhibition at the Galaxi Building, we gathered different tendencies of the contemporary art scene; five artists with very different works will be sharing this building - gallery, with works in video presented on TVs, and in a computer.
The spirit of collaboration and trust is the tonic of this exhibition, among the artists curators, the artists and the galerists.
Two artists are from Rio de Janeiro, one is from Brasilia, other from Norway and another is American. The artist from Norway, Lasse Raa, and the American, Barry Anderson, will be presenting a video each in looping, while the artist from Brasilia, Cila Mc Dowell will be presenting a cd-rom, Carlo Sansolo and Érika Fraenkel, will prepare two videoinstallations in the main room, difficulting a simple understanding of the works, making them more hybrids.
The works:
Lasse Raa’s work is called Worms, a video where the movement of the worms are synchronized to an electronic composition.
Interestingly Barry’s video has also an animal Pigeon, where a pigeon is observed in extreme close up.
Cila Mac Dowell contributes with the cd-rom Amigos de Mr. Blowup (friends of Mr. Blowup), it is a work where she exams the animation possibilities of the cd-rom and deals with this intriguing subject that is sadomasochism. This cd-rom was made with the material of the website www.mrblowup.com.
Carlo Sansolo will present the installation The infra structure determines the super structure, though its direct Marxist reference, the work is more of point of escape, where different ideologies and texts, are confronted on video and digital pictures.
A maquina e a língua (the machine and the tongue) is a video body object that Érika Fraenkel prepared, a triple work that in the same room an object a special dress and a girl suffer a re-semantization, organizing a flux that will go up to the end of the exhibition.
